Thankfulness
  Pastor Kim Wenzel

We have so much to be thankful for! So many people are not thankful !
The Song of the Sea
 Exodus 15:1-19
The Israelite's spent 430 yrs captivity, That was a very long time, Many generations! Compared to the USA it is only 241 yrs old.
Victimization by a great enemy.
  Exodus 15:1-19 (NASB)
1  Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and said, "I will sing to the LORD, for He is highly exalted; The horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea.
2  "The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; This is my God, and I will praise Him; My father's God, and I will extol Him.
3  "The LORD is a warrior; The LORD is His name.
4  "Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; And the choicest of his officers are drowned in the Red Sea.
5  "The deeps cover them; They went down into the depths like a stone.
6  "Your right hand, O LORD, is majestic in power, Your right hand, O LORD, shatters the enemy.
7  "And in the greatness of Your excellence You overthrow those who rise up against You; You send forth Your burning anger, and it consumes them as chaff.
8  "At the blast of Your nostrils the waters were piled up, The flowing waters stood up like a heap; The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea.
9  "The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; My desire shall be gratified against them; I will draw out my sword, my hand will destroy them.'
10  "You blew with Your wind, the sea covered them; They sank like lead in the mighty waters.
11  "Who is like You among the gods, O LORD? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, Awesome in praises, working wonders?
12  "You stretched out Your right hand, The earth swallowed them.
13  "In Your loving kindness You have led the people whom You have redeemed; In Your strength You have guided them to Your holy habitation.
14  "The peoples have heard, they tremble; Anguish has gripped the inhabitants of Philistia.
15  "Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed; The leaders of Moab, trembling grips them; All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.
16  "Terror and dread fall upon them; By the greatness of Your arm they are motionless as stone; Until Your people pass over, O LORD, Until the people pass over whom You have purchased.
17  "You will bring them and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, The place, O LORD, which You have made for Your dwelling, The sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.
18  "The LORD shall reign forever and ever."
19  For the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, and the LORD brought back the waters of the sea on them, but the sons of Israel walked on dry land through the midst of the sea.

Thankfulness By Daniel
 Daniel 2:23
Future of nation, not just Daniel and friends.
Daniel 2:23 (NASB)
23  "To You, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, For You have given me wisdom and power; Even now You have made known to me what we requested of You, For You have made known to us the king's matter."

A Thankful Leper – Luke 17:11-19
10 lepers healed, only ONE returns to say thanks!
Luke 17:11-19 (NASB)
11  While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee.
12  As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him;
13  and they raised their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
14  When He saw them, He said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they were going, they were cleansed.
15  Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,
16  and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan.
17  Then Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they?
18  "Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?"
19  And He said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has made you well."

God’s Will: Thankfulness
1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In every
thing give thanks:for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus
concerning you.”
 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NASB)
18  in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Mature Christians are Thankful
Colossians 3:12-17  “ And let the peace that comes from Christ
rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to
live in peace. And always be thankful.”
 Colossians 3:12-17 (NASB)
12  So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
13  bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.
14  Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
15  Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
16  Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
17  Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Today's Verse
 Isaiah 35:5-7
Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert. The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and papyrus will grow.
