"Jesus Final Teaching - Part 1"
Pastor Kim Wenzel
John 13:1-17 (NLT)
Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet
1 Before
the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave
this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during
his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end.[a] 2 It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas,[b] son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.3 Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. 4 So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him.
-Jesus is turning the world up side down again.
-The leader doing the serving, instead of being served.
6 When Jesus came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”
7 Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”
8 “No,” Peter protested, “you will never ever wash my feet!”
Jesus replied, “Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to me.”
9 Simon Peter exclaimed, “Then wash my hands and head as well, Lord, not just my feet!”
-Do we allow Jesus to wash our feet - clean up our walk on this earth? Or, are we like Peter?
12 After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? 13 You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. 15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 16 I
tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is
the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. 17 Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.
The blessed life is the foot-washing life.
Jesus, The Way To The Father
John 14:10-14 (NLT)
10 Don’t
you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I
speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work
through me. 11 Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.
12 “I
tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I
have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the
Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!
Do we believe? Are we doing greater works? Are our prayers Kingdom oriented?

Today's Verse
Mark 5:21-24; 41-42 And when Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered about him, and he was beside the sea. Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, he fell at his feet and implored him earnestly, saying, "My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live." And he went with him. And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him...
