 Sermon : “Prophetic Palm Sunday”
      Pastor Kim Wenzel

Prophetic Palm Sunday

Mark 11:8-10  CSB (Christian Standard Bible)
8 Many people spread their clothes on the road, and others spread leafy branches cut from the fields.[a] 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted:
Hosanna!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord![b]
10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!

Jericho - city of palms
 (The Feast of Tabernacles)
Leviticus 23:39-42 CSB
39 “You are to celebrate the Lord’s festival on the fifteenth day of the seventh month for seven days after you have gathered the produce of the land. There will be complete rest on the first day and complete rest on the eighth day. 40 On the first day you are to take the product of majestic trees—palm fronds, boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook—and rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. 41 You are to celebrate it as a festival to the Lord seven days each year. This is a permanent statute for you throughout your generations; celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 You are to live in shelters for seven days. All the native-born of Israel must live in shelters.
Festival Of Shelters Observed
Nehemiah 8:15  CSB
15 So they proclaimed and spread this news throughout their towns and in Jerusalem, saying, Go out to the hill country and bring back branches of olive, wild olive, myrtle, palm, and other leafy trees to make shelters, just as it is written.

Revelation 7:9 CSB

A Multitude from the Great Tribulation

9 After this I looked, and there was a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands.

 1. Symbol of the temporary - mans power, rule, pride, human kingdoms etc.
2. Symbol of the attitude and desire to worship Jesus as Lord and King.

Today's Verse

 Mark 10:32-34
They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid. Again he took the Twelve aside and told them what was going to happen to him. "We are going up to Jerusalem," he said, "and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise."

 The promise of resurrection
Is not only told in the Book;
It is heralded in the springtime
By every happy brook.
It is announced by violets
And by the dogwood trees.
It is chanted by the mocking bird
And the buzz of myriad bees.
It is echoed every Easter
By the lily’s perfumed breath,
When every sleeping land awakes,
Triumphant over death.
