Sermon Title "Pray like Jesus"

Pastor Kim's Sermon Notes

Isaiah 56:7

7 Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on my alter: for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.

 Isaiah 56:7-8 (NASB)
7  Even those I will bring to My holy mountain And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples."

Jesus at the Temple

Mathew 21:12-14
 12 Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.
13 "It is written," he said to them, "My house will be called a house of prayer," but you are making it a den of robbers.
14 The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.

Cleansing The Temple

 Matthew 21:12-14 (NASB)
12  And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.
13  And He *said to them, "It is written, 'MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER'; but you are making it a ROBBERS' DEN."
14  And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.

Are we doing anything in our "House of Prayer" that might anger Jesus?

Jesus Teaching on Prayer

Luke 11:1-13

1 One day Jesus was teaching in a certain place. when he finished. One of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."
2 He said to them, "When you pray, say Father, hallowed be your name. your kingdom come."
3 'Give us each day our daily bread.
4 'Forgive us our sins, for we forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.
5 Then Jesus said to them, "Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, "Friend, lend me three loaves of bread;
6 A friend of mine on a journey has come to me , and I have no food to offer him.
7 And suppose the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.
8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your persistence shameless audacity (brashness, boldness, impudence, )  he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.
9 "So I say to you: ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
11 which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish will give him a snake instead?
12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?
13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Instruction About Prayer

 Luke 11:1-13 (NASB)
1  It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples."
2  And He said to them, "When you pray, say: 'Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.
3  'Give us each day our daily bread.

4  'And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.'"

5  Then He said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves;
6  for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him';
7  and from inside he answers and says, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.'
8  "I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
9  "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
10  "For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened.
11  "Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?
12  "Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he?
13  "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"

If you pray with no Mojo, the answer will be NO NO!
